where the girls are
this series reflects a nostalgic sense of girlhood, when your biggest problem was what you would wear to the party rather than the state of the world.
each figure is myself, alluding to this idea of shared experience, and the "every woman". i was greatly inspired by Lauren Greenfield's photo book Girl Culture, which explores girls of the early 2000s just going about their days in a documentary style. I wanted to bring that style over to this series. I was also inspired by Petra Collins photographs, specifically in Coming of Age, another documentary photo book of girlhood.
where are the girls? they are living life. they have worries, they have experiences, they share them with each other.
